Type 1 Diabetes is the least common form of diabetes and only 10 % of the population suffering from this type. People who are affected by Type 1 Diabetes mainly develop it either in their teenage years or in early adulthood. Patients who have type 1 diabetes have to depend on insulin injections for the whole life along with proper diet plan for diabetic patients.

Causes of Type 1 Diabetes:

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease. It occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the beta cells of the pancreas. There are cells that create insulin but when people suffering from Causes of Type 1 Diabetes their ability to form enough insulin is decreased so they do not control their blood sugar level. What causes Type 1 Diabetes?

Dehydration:

High level of sugar present in urine can cause you to urinate more and increase the level of glucose, and this increased level of glucose can be absorbed by the kidney. When the kidney loses glucose through the urine, a large amount of water is lost. As water comes out of the body that means your body cause dehydration.

Weight loss:

The loss of sugar in the urine means a loss of calories which provide energy. So many people who have high sugar level have high chances of losing weight. Dehydration is also one of the reasons behind your weight loss.

Genetics:

Some people born with type 1 diabetes, as they may get this disease from their parents. This is not a hard and fast rule that you may get diabetes if your parents have, actually it happens in less than 1 in 10 families.

Damage to the body:

The high sugar level in the blood may damage the nerve and small blood vessels of the heart, kidney, and eye. Due to this, it increases the chances of heart attack and stroke.

Diet plan for Type 1 diabetic patients:

Healthy eating is the essential part of managing Type 1 diabetic. Healthy balanced foods are those that are packed with nutrients, all we required in more amount than others.
The three main nutrients in food are:

Carbohydrate:

Eating enough amounts of Carbohydrates will help to increase blood sugar. Keep in mind to choose carbohydrate that is more slowly digested or have low to moderate glycemic index that can help to maintain more even blood glucose levels. Add 3-4 serves of carbohydrate food at each meal. So always concern your dietitian as it is the best person to help you regarding the intake of carbohydrates.

Few example: You can co-consume carbohydrates by adding 1 slice of whole grain bread, 1/3 cup of cooked rice or pasta,1/2 piece of roti, 1/2 cup bran cereal,1 small pita bread or 1 medium raw fruit

Protein:

Protein is actually good for your body that increases growth and also repairs body tissues. Many proteins also contain fat so it is important to manage the intake of protein as excess intake will increase weight.

For example: seafood, dairy products, legumes, seeds and soy products, Red meat, fish and eggs all are a rich source of proteins.

Fat:

This is an important nutrient for your body, but takes them in very small amount. All fats are high in energy. You can add fat in various food such as butter, cream cheese, margarine,sour cream, chicken, mayonnaise, salad dressings.

Manage your diet in such a way that you may get all these nutrients and should be in manageable amount.

Type 1 Diabetes Home remedies:

Although Diabetes are incurable but still we can use home remedies that will reduce diabetes that is regulated for a healthy and prolonged life.

Fenugreek Seeds:

Fenugreek seeds are packed with fiber and fiber helps to slow down the absorption of carbohydrates. Fenugreek seeds also encourage glucose tolerance and lower blood sugar level.

Direction to use:

Soak one-two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds for 8 to 10 hours or for overnight.
Consume this glass of water early morning on an empty stomach.
Follow this method for few weeks to see visible changes in your blood sugar levels.
Another great way to use fenugreek seeds is to grind them and make a powder and have 2 tablespoons of this powder with milk.

Bitter gourd:

Add bitter guard In your dishes or in a curry and consume at least once in a week.
Another effective way to introduce bitter guard into your diet is to prepare bitter guard juice 50-60 ml on an empty stomach in morning.

Curry leaves:

Curry leaves are most commonly use in south Asia dishes and also they give great flavor to your dish. Curry leaves have anti-diabetic properties so no doubt it helps to reduce diabetes, apart from it curry leaves also helpful to reduce cholesterol levels and obesity.

Directions to use:

Simply you can chew 9-10 fresh curry leaves every morning for at least 3- 4 months.

Indian gooseberry:

You can also refer Indian gooseberry as amla and most of the people may know that amla is only good for hair and to improve vision…..but do you know that amla is useful for your pancreas.So consumption of amla juice is also effective to lower the blood sugar levels in diabetes.

What to do:

Prepare amla juice by strain 2-3 gooseberries.Have this juice daily on an empty stomach.
Alternatively, you can also add the juice of bitter guard in gooseberries juice.Drink this mixture daily for best results.

Exercise:

Exercise

Well! benefits of exercise are not unknown ….everyone may aware from its benefits. Exercise will improve your overall health…but for that you need to give some time to exercise from your daily routine. If you cannot afford a gym, include more physical activities like leave elevators instead use stairs, Avoid taking the car for short distance, take a walk instead. Moreover, you can also do one thing go for swimming or play outdoor games like cricket, tennis, basketball etc it will not only help to improve your health but also reduce diabetes.
